Trumpia & Salesforce Integration on Zapier: How to Add a New Contact Through Text Keywords

In this second part of the Zapier integration tutorial, we’ll be going over how you can add a new Salesforce contact when a contact signs up by texting a text keyword.

Step 1 – Trigger Event

In the trigger section, you’ll be asked what our “App event” will be. Since you want this zap to trigger whenever there is a new Keyword Signup, select Trumpia as our “App Event”.

When you’ree asked for a triggering event, select “New Contact (Keyword Signup)” and then select continue.

In the next step, select the Trumpia account that you will be using for this zap. Some additional steps to link your account may be needed if you haven’t done so already.

Now you need to set up a trigger. To do that, select a distribution list. You need to do this because our Keyword Signup trigger works whenever a new contact is added to a distribution list by Keyword.

Now you’re ready to move onto the action step of this zap.

Step 2 – Action Event

In the action step, select Salesforce as your App event.

As your action step for Salesforce, select “Create Record”.

Now, choose the Salesforce account that you want to add these new records to.

In the next step, you need to specify the record type you want to be adding to Salesforce from Trumpia, which will be a contact.

Select a specific account in Salesforce that you want to add those contacts to.

Now, match up the data captured from your keyword signup from Trumpia to Salesforce.

You can simply match up the last name from Trumpia to Last Name on Salesforce, mobile phone to mobile phone and email to email.

As for the contact description on Salesforce, you have more flexibility in the data you choose to add, and how to format it.

Step 3 – Text Your Zap

As the final step all that is left is testing the Zap you just created. If anything went wrong or if any data was mismatched with your zap, this is where we would find out.

Additional Notes

Normally, data such as first and last name or email are not known after a keyword sign up.

To capture this data we need to use the data capture feature for keywords during setup.

If you’re not on how to set up a keyword and use the data capture feature please take a look at the corresponding tutorial or watch the tutorial video.
